Mike Smith is the Programme Leader for Anaesthetic Technology at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT). Mike originally trained as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) in Leicester, UK and moved to New Zealand as an Anaesthetic Technician in 2014. Since then he has completed a Master of Health Service Management through Massey University, and has led the delivery of education and training for ATs since 2020 including the development of a new Bachelor of Health Science for the Anaesthetic Technician profession.
